FAQ

Q. HOW LONG WILL AQUASCOOTER RUN ON A TANK OF GAS?
A. Two and a half to three hours.

Q. HOW DEEP CAN YOU GO WITH AQUASCOOTER?
A. Snorkel depth only.

Q. HOW SAFE IS AQUASCOOTER?
A. Aquascooter has been manufactured since 1979 without anyone ever being hurt using it. That is a great safety record.

Q. CAN A CHILD USE AN AQUASCOOTER?
A. As long as the child can swim they can use Aquascooter. Of course, a life jacket is recommended for all operators.

Q. CAN I USE THE AQUASCOOTER IN SALT WATER?
A. Yes! You must rinse the Aquascooter with fresh water at the end of each days use. We also recommend spraying the carburetor with a coat of silicone to fight against corrosion.

Q. HOW HEAVY IS AQUASCOOTER?
A. With a full tank of fuel, 17 lbs.

Q. WHAT HAPPENS IF I GET WATER IN THE ENGINE?
A. No problem, just follow instructions in you owners manual and you can be up and running in 2 to 3 minutes.

Q. CAN I USE ANY 2 CYCLE OIL?
A. We do not recommend standard 2 cycle oils as Aquascooter runs cold, requiring a very special formulation that mixes at 100:1, lubricates and will not foul spark plugs. See our products section to purchase the optimum oil for your Aquascooter.

Q. I HAVE CHANGED MY SPARK PLUG, BUT MY AQUASCOOTER DOES NOT PERFORM AS GOOD AS IT SHOULD.
A. Over the years we have found that cross reference spark plugs do not work as well as the original Bosch W10A, OR W10AC. This is the only plug we recommend. See our parts section to order the Bosch W10AC plugs.

Q. DO I HAVE TO USE PREMIUM GAS?
A. No, as a matter of fact we don’t recommend using premium fuels since some contain ehenol which is harmful to Aquascooters carburetor diaphragms. There is no performance benefit from using premium grade fuel.

Q. MY AQUASCOOTER QUITS WHEN I PUT IT INTO THE WATER.
A. There are a few things that can cause this problem:
Check your plug boot for cracks. Water leaking into the plug boot shorts out the ignition system. If the plug boot is cracked, replace it.

Exhaust valve should be replaced every 2 years, even if the Aquascooter has not been used for a long period of time. If the exhaust valve is leaking it will allow water to enter the combustion chamber.

Possible blown seal or gasket. We recommend sending your Aquascooter in for service if you have a seal or gasket leaking.

Low compression. Extensive use or improper lubrication can cause low compression in the combustion chamber. Your Aquascooter will need to be sent in for service.

Q. I DON’T HAVE SPARK.
A. There are a few things that can cause this problem:
Possible fouled spark plug, replace with a new plug.

Water in ignition from bad seals, replace seals.

Points have corroded (Models AS-400, AS-450, and AS-500), service recommended.

Bad Coil, service recommended.

Q. MY AQUASCOOTER SMOKES A LOT.
A. You are using the wrong oil mix. You are loosing compression.

Q. I KEEP GETTING FUEL IN MY AIR CHAMBER.
A. You have a broken vent hose in the fuel side of tank.

Q. MY AQUASCOOTER IS HARD TO START.
A. Never turn on the choke unless your Aquascooter does not start in 6 pulls. Many times Aquascooter’s want to start without the need of choking. If it did not need the choke and you turned on the choke you will flood it before it starts.
